These occurred in: 1948 (1st) 1967(2nd) 1973(3rd) and the 4th could happen at any time! Damascus is the capital of Syria. It is the oldest perpetual city in the world! It is over 5000 years old! NOTE: Isn’t it appropriate that the oldest city is one that will be destroyed to clearly show the world that God is sovereign? Is. 17:1 States that Damascus will be taken away from being a city and become a ruinous heap - this has not happened yet, but will very soon!! In 1973, Israel came with 20 kilometers of Damascus - Russia stepped in and informed the world that if they continue, it will be world war three. If Israel had destroyed Damascus then, this prophecy could not have been fulfilled!

TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel's military has been preparing for the increasing prospect of a war with Syria in a confrontation expected to include Iran and Hizbullah. The General Staff has discussed an assessment by the military's Northern Command of an emerging threat from Syria and Hizbullah over the next year. Northern Command said a weakened Syria, under pressure from the United States to withdraw from Lebanon, was likely to approve an Iranian-Hizbullah campaign against Israel. Military sources said this assessment was the latest by several senior officers who envision a major war with Syria by 2007.

According to this agreement, if an Arab country is invaded, the rest of the Arab countries should defend it. Instead of implementing this agreement, there were those who facilitated the aggression, while neighboring countries refused to do so." "As long as Israel exists, the threat exists. Who or what is the ‘restrainer’? Scholars differ on what they believe: An Angel, the Holy Spirit, the Church, The Roman Government, etc.

Angels are often given the task of restraining something or holding something back: Rev 7:1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree. The most natural, logical meaning of this text is that a mighty angel is restraining the spirit of the antichrist, until God takes him out of the way.

Here we are given a preview of a cashless society We are moving in that direction! Rev 14:9-12 Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, (10) he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. Many people call it the great tribulation period, or the time of Jacob’s trouble. The Bible nowhere calls these seven years by either name. Jer 30:2 "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Write all the words which I have spoken to you in a book. 3 'For behold, days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will restore the fortunes of My people Israel and Judah.' The LORD says, 'I will also bring them back to the land that I gave to their forefathers and they shall possess it.'" 4 Now these are the words which the LORD spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah: 5 "For thus says the LORD, 'I have heard a sound of terror, Of dread, and there is no peace. 6 'Ask now, and see If a male can give birth. Why do I see every man With his hands on his loins, as a woman in childbirth? And why have all faces turned pale? Jer 30:7 'Alas! for that day is great, There is none like it; And it is the time of Jacob's distress, But he will be saved from it. :8 'It shall come about on that day,' declares the LORD of hosts, 'that I will break his yoke from off their neck and will tear off their bonds; and strangers will no longer make them their slaves.

It is after God has made them a nation again – already done. It begins with a time of distress for the Jews and immediate release from the yoke of bondage. This happens right after the abomination of desolation in the middle of the 70 th week! It refers in Jeremiah to ‘that day’ – “a great day, there is none like it” (Jeremiah 30:7) It is the same ‘day’ that begins the day of the Lord! (more on this next week)

[Jesus foretold this in Luke 19:44] This is most likely the UN – possibly the security council.

It took its name from it being equal to ten “asses”, a number after 217 B.C. increased to sixteen (about 3.898 grams or.1375 oz.). It was the principal silver coin of the Roman empire. From the parable of the labourers in the vineyard, it would seem that a denarius was then the ordinary pay for a day’s wages. (Mat_20:2-13)

Revelation 7:3-4 saying, "Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads." (4) And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: Revelation 7:9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; All of this is just after the breaking of the 6 th seal.

Notice it will be the attire of: a. The overcomers, (Rev 3:4-5, 18). b. The martyrs, (Rev 6:11). c. The universally innumerable multitude, (Rev 7:9). d. The armies of heaven, (Rev 19:14). Revelation 19:7-8 "Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready." (8) It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. All indicating the Church – the Bride of Christ!

(8) But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. (9) For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, (10) who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. For us, this is a wonderful promise – we will not be here when the seventh seal is broken – we are not destined for wrath!

Rapture as doctrine is one thing. The Rapture Myth is a distortion of that doctrine, which says the Rapture will spare us from all time of trial, suffering, conflict and the need to do spiritual battle because we aren't going to endure God's wrath in the time of the Tribulation. It never occurs to the Rapture Myth people that we may well endure the world's wrath before Christ returns. The Rapture Myth takes comfort in the fallacious assumption that there will be no time of trial in the run-up to the Rapture and Tribulation. It comforts itself with a "we're going to be outta here" mentality; not to worry about anything. Just keep teaching the Bible as if the Bible were an end and goal unto itself. It fails to notice that the Bible is a manual for action, not just study, and most definitely not an end in itself. As Jesus said, the Kingdom of Heaven consists in power, not words.
