4 Review strategy Much deeper involvement/closer collaboration with SU’s Office of Admissions in review of applications for Fall 2012. Intentional strategy to improve quality of first- year class. Resulted in slightly smaller/higher quality first-year class Extra attention to high school math/science preparation Learned a great deal through the process; resulting in enhancements to overall review, including looking at ACT Math sub-scores in application review

Systems & Information Science – Hands-on/application oriented computing major. – Developed in response to need in the market place for computing professionals with skills in the hands- on development of large scale software systems, meeting technical, business and consumer needs, and working in a multi-disciplinary setting. Flight Simulator Fidelity MOTUS 622i Can be programmed to simulate the flight abilities of planes designed by aerospace students Ability to simulate different weather patterns Currently used by seniors, but plans are in place to Introduce the simulator to first- Industrial Assessment Center – DOE funded 7 Electrical, Computer Science, and Computer Engineering Mechanical & Aerospace

8 ECS 101 College’s “Gateway” course for new students – 3-credit, introductory course for new students – Includes lecture-style group meeting for all first-year students (weekly) – Discipline-specific sections, lead by department faculty, meet twice a week
