3 SHERWOOD If Robin Hood lived today, the Sheriff of Nottingham should not be too much work with his finding in Sherwood Forest. The forest thin very quickly. Sherwood Forest was once spread over an area 40000 hectares across the whole of Nottingham. Today the heart of the forest is about 180 hectares plus small pieces scattered across the area.
