Introduction On these slides you will see adaptations of animals. Some use camouflage, webbed feet, skin between their arms, sleek bodies and many other adaptations that help them survive. We hope you enjoy our power point!

Mountain Goat The mountain goat lives near the mountains. Its hooves are adapted to rugged rocks by being flexible. The adaptations help the goat survive because if there hooves with a soft spongy inner pad surrounded by a hard outer rim.

The Flying Squirrel The flying squirrel can glide across the air. They live in forests in North America. It can glide so it can not be eaten. It eats nuts and acorns. It is cute but it can hurt you.

Sharks A shark lives in the ocean. It has oil in its liver to swim. A shark can kill you. A shark eats other little fish and mammals.

Camels This is a camel. A camel lives in the Sahara desert on the continent of Africa. Sometimes it can be found in Australia or Asia. It has a special adaptation. It produces very little sweat and urine. This helps it keep water in its body.

Seal This is a seal. A seal lives in a snowy place on the continent of Antarctica. It has a special adaption. It has a very good way of swimming through the water because it has a streamlined body shape.

Giraffe The name of my animal is a giraffe. The giraffe lives on the continent of Africa in the grassland. The giraffe has a long flexible tongue so that the giraffe can reach the tree’s leaves. The giraffe has a long neck to reach the tree’s leaves. The giraffe’s neck and tongue help the giraffe to eat.

Penguin The name of my animal is a penguin. The penguin lives in Antarctica. The penguin has wings that look like flippers so they can swim fast to catch fish. If the penguin did not have his flippers that look like wings, he could not catch fish and the penguin would die.

Duck Billed Platypus The name of my animal is a duck billed platypus. The duck billed platypus lives in eastern Australia near rivers or lakes. Its special adaptation is its webbed feet so he can swim fast.

Cheetah The name of my animal is a cheetah. It lives near Sub- Saharan Africa. It’s special adaptations are its long, powerful legs and its sharp teeth. He can run fast to catch food for the babies.

Unusual Animal Projects The students in STEP were told to imagine that it is the year 3000 and people can create planets and the animals and plants that live on these planets. We took on the role of scientists and created animals that were adapted to a particular planet’s habitat. We will now present a description of the planet we were assigned and the animal we created to live there in our diorama.
