3 March 20th, 2009AGEP National Meeting3 Career Initiation Grant Purpose: To increase the recipient’s prospects of securing an academic position and to contribute to his or her early success

4 March 20th, 2009AGEP National Meeting4 Career Initiation Grant Process: Eligibility Currently enrolled NSE doctoral students at Emory or Georgia Tech who complete PhD by September 1 of award year; OR Alumni of Emory, Georgia Tech, Morehouse or Spelman who hold NSE doctorates within 5 years preceding September 1 of award year; OR NSE postdocs at Emory, Georgia Tech, Morehouse or Spelman who obtained PhD within 5 years preceding September 1 of award year

5 March 20th, 2009AGEP National Meeting5 Career Initiation Grant Process: Required Actions 1)Complete application form (by March 1 of award year), including a) a 4-page description of a 5-year integrated research and teaching plan b) a resume c) 2 letters of recommendation 2) Be selected for CIG by FACES Steering Committee (~ mid March) 3)Secure a faculty position by December 31 st of award year
