Two promises for those who listen to His voice and follow Him … 1. You’ll have eternal life and never perish (10:28) 2. You’re secure in Christ (10:28-29)

The two promises are grounded in two premises … 1. The power of God (10:29) 2. The presence of God (10:30) Yahweh God was present with them, in the person of Jesus Yahweh God is present with us, in the person of the Holy Spirit

renewal. restoration.

renewal. restoration. RESURRECTION

Jesus doesn’t say His glory will be revealed in His ability to keep you from pain. He says His glory will be revealed THROUGH your pain.

God’s power is not shown in keeping us from hurt. God’s power is shown in overcoming the hurt.

“There is no coming to consciousness without pain. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own soul.” -- Carl Jung

Do we look at our struggles or our pain as something God should heal? Or do we look at them as an occasion to show His glory?

We must learn to see our earthly afflictions … even the unimaginable ones … through the lens of the doxa.

Do we look at our struggles or our pain as something God should heal? Or do we look at them as an occasion to show His glory?

What is your level of belief in Jesus? Do you really believe?

Many times we think that to have great faith means that we are not supposed to acknowledge our emotion. But to have great faith means belief in the face of our emotion.

God’s glory is displayed most through our pain, weakness, and dependence. Not through our composure, strength and independence.

Faith is crying through the present reality of the “If only …” while believing the potential truth of the “But even now …”
