3 What are the Scriptures? Scriptures refers to sacred writings that are contained in the Bible. The Old Testament Hebrew Scriptures,

4 and the New Testament, Christian Scriptures.

5 God inspired the writers of the bible through the power of the Holy Spirit. These scriptures or writings are the inspired word of God.

6 When did human authors compose these writings? Human authors composed these writings at different times and for different audiences. 15 What is the goal of studying the Bible? The goal of studying the bible is not simply to learn about Scripture, but to learn from Scripture. To get to know Jesus better. To understand more about God. To open ourselves to see the work of the Holy Spirit in our own lives and in the world. The bible is: 1.Considered a special and unique work of literature. 2.It deals with topics that are fundamental to people’s search for meaning in their lives. 3.Its material has helped shape, in one way or another, much of the good found in Western Civilization, and has shaped western culture.
