Modern Attitudes In The Church We need to emphasize love and unity, doctrine divides. Ecumenism - Unity Over Revelation

I know what the Bible says but I prayed about it and I feel like God is directing me a different way. Subjectivism – Feeling Over Fact

Doctrine has little to do with every day life, it’s not that important to me. Existentialism – Life over Revelation

Doctrine is too complicated for the average person to understand. Complexity – Laziness Over Diligence

Orthopraxy – Doing right versus Believing Right Doctrine isn’t that important if people will just love one another and do right

I Tim. 1:3 - As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine (didaskalia), (Context Acts 20:28,29) Bible Doctrine Is To Stay Pure Gal 1:8 But even if we or an angel from Heaven preach a gospel to you beside what we preached to you, let him be accursed.

Doctrine Is To Be Guarded, And The False To Be Refuted 10 For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, 11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching (Didasko) things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain. Tit 1:7 For the overseer must be … 9 holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching (Didache), so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine (didaskalia) and to refute those who contradict.

Much of The NT Scripture Came About Because Of Doctrinal Disputes Romans – Antinomianism/Judaizers I Corinthians – Division/Use of gifts II Corinthians – False Apostles Galatians/Philippians - Judaizers Colossians/ IJn. - Gnosticism I & II Thessalonians - Eschatology

The Cycle of Apostasy Revelation & Obedience To Truth Compromise Liberalize Apostatize Rom 1:21 Because, knowing God… they did not glorify Him as God… But they became vain in their imaginations… Rom 1:25 For they changed the truth of God into a lie

Good Doctrine Is To Be Prioritized 1Ti 4:13 - Until I come, give attention to the reading of Scripture, to exhortation and *teaching (Didaskalia). 2Ti 4:2 - preach the Word, be instant in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and *doctrine. 3 For a time will be when they will not endure sound *doctrine … 1Ti 4:16 Hold on to yourself and to the *doctrine ; continue in them, for doing this you shall both save yourself and those who hear you.

1Ti 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, (Source of teaching) Rev. 2:15 "I hate the doctrine of the Nicolaitans.” Bad doctrine Is To Be Despised and Silenced In The Church Tit. 10 For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, 11 who must be silenced…

1Ti 1:19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.

Faith Is Only As Good As The Object In Which It Is Placed

Doctrines That Allow

The Verbal, Plenary, Inspiration Of The Bible Doctrine One

What Does Verbal, Plenary, Inspiration Mean? Inspiration – “Theopneustos” God -Breathed Plenary – The Entirety Verbal – The Very Words

The Bible Declares Itself To Be The Word Of God. 2Pe 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture came into being of its own private interpretation. 21 For prophecy was not borne at any time by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke being borne along by the Holy Spirit.

The Bible Declares Itself To Be The Word Of God. 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:17 That the man of God may be mature, thoroughly furnished to all good works. Not some of it but “All” of it!!!

Purpose Of The Scripture To Reveal God’s Will, Plans, and Purposes To Every Generation PSALM 33:11 -- “The counsel of the Lord stands for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.” Deu 11:19 And you shall teach them to your sons, speaking of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Purpose Of The Scripture New Testament Scriptures Were To Benefit Future Generations Joh 20:31 But these are written so that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life in His name.

Preservation Of Scripture Psa 119:160 Your Word is true from the beginning; and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever. There are now identified among the scrolls, 19 copies of the Book of Isaiah, 25 copies of Deuteronomy and 30 copies of the Psalms. The Isaiah Scroll, found relatively intact, is 1000 years older than any previously known copy of Isaiah. In fact, the scrolls are the oldest group of Old Testament manuscripts ever found.

Preservation Of Scripture The Old And New Testaments have been preserved by thousands of copies in many languages. By comparing the manuscripts we can have full confidence of the accuracy of our present day bible.

5,000 Greek manuscripts 10,000 Latin 9,000 other Total 24,000 All dated from 100 to 300 years after the originals. Bible Manuscript Evidence

Comparison with other ancient documents Plato Written - 427-347 B.C. Earliest Copy - 900 A.D. Gap from writing to earliest copy - 1200 yrs Amount of Copies - 7

Of the four Gospels alone, there are 19,368 citations by the church fathers from the late first century on. Even if we had no manuscripts, virtually the entire New Testament could be reconstructed from these quotations.

The Unity Of Scripture Forty different men inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote the 66 books of the Bible and discuss hundreds of controversial subjects, yet they all agree. What makes this even more remarkable is that the 40 Bible writers lived as much as 1600 years apart. The 66 books of the Bible on the other hand, weave a unified message from Genesis to Revelation.

The History Contained In The Bible Confirmed By Archeology The historical accuracy of the Scriptures is likewise in a class by itself, far superior to the written records of Egypt, Assyria, and other early nations. Archeological confirmations of the Biblical record have been almost innumerable in the last century. Dr. Nelson Glueck, probably the greatest modern authority on Israeli archeology, has said : "No archeological discovery has ever controverted a Biblical reference. Scores of archeological findings have been made which confirm in clear outline or in exact detail historical statements in the Bible. And, by the same token, proper evaluation of Biblical descriptions has often led to amazing discoveries."

See Mesha in 2 Kings 3:5. The Moab Stone In 1993 a stela (inscribed stone) was discovered at Tel Dan in northern Israel mentioning the "House of David" (Bible and Spade, Autumn 1993: 119- 121). On Line 31 Mesha mentions the House Of David Found In 1868

The Fulfilled Prophecies Of The Bible There are extensive prophecies dealing with individual nations and cities and with the course of history in general, all of which have been literally fulfilled. More than 300 prophecies were fulfilled by Christ Himself at His first coming. Since the bible prophecies of the past have been historically and literally fulfilled, we are confident that the prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled, will also be fulfilled literally in time space History.

The Scientific Accuracy Of The Bible Roundness of the earth (Isaiah 40:22) Almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe (Isaiah 55:9) Law of conservation of mass and energy (II Peter 3:7) Hydrologic cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7) Vast number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22) Law of increasing entropy (Psalm 102:25-27) Paramount importance of blood in life processes (Leviticus 17:11) Atmospheric circulation (Ecclesiastes 1:6) Gravitational field (Job 26:7) … and much moreIsaiah 40:22Isaiah 55:9II Peter 3:7Ecclesiastes 1:7Jeremiah 33:22Psalm 102:25-27Leviticus 17:11Ecclesiastes 1:6Job 26:7

The Bible’s Unique Effect On People One final evidence that the Bible is true is found in the testimony of those who have believed it. Multitudes of people, past and present, have found from personal experience that its promises are true, its counsel is sound, its commands and restrictions are wise, and its wonderful message of salvation meets every need for both time and eternity.

The Bible Contains God’s Word The Bible Was Written By Man The Bible Has Errors Only The Ideas Are Inspired The Bible Isn’t True For Everyone Modernist and Liberal Views

The Extent Of Inspiration Of The Bible The OT Bible Writers Declared Their Messages Came From God Isaiah 1:2 - The Lord has spoken. Jeremiah 10:1,2 - Hear the word which the Lord speaks. Thus says the Lord... Ezekiel 1:3 - The word of the Lord came expressly. Hosea 1:1,2 - The word of the Lord that came... the Lord began to speak by Hosea, the Lord said... Jonah 1:1 - The word of the Lord came to Jonah. Micah 1:1 - The word of the Lord that came to Micah.

The Extent Of Inspiration Of The Bible Jesus Declared His Message was From God The Father Joh 7:16 So Jesus answered them and said, "My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me. Joh 14:24 He who does not love Me does not keep My Words, and the Word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me.

The Extent Of Inspiration Of The Bible The NT Writers Declared Their Messages Were From God Eph 3:5 which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit; 1Co 14:37 If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord's commandment.

1Th 4:15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, 1Ti 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says … Act 16:32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house. 1Th 1:5 for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit

The Extent Of Inspiration Of The Bible Inspired Men Claimed That Other Bible Writers Were Inspired Luk 16:31 And he said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded, even though one rose from the dead.

The Extent Of Inspiration Of The Bible Jesus Put His Stamp Of Inspiration On all The Words Of His Apostles Luk 10:16 - The one hearing you hears Me, and he who despises you despises Me; he who rejects you also rejects Him who sent Me.

The Extent Of Inspiration Of The Bible Peter recognized all of the Apostle Paul’s letters were scripture 2Pe 3:16 - as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

The Extent Of Inspiration Of The Bible All The Apostles Recognized The Messages Of One Another As Coming From God 1Jo 1:3 that which we have seen and heard we declare unto you… 1Jo 1:5 And this is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

The Apostles Deny God Just Gave Them Ideas Gal 1:11 And, brothers, I make known to you the gospel which was preached by me, that it is not according to man. Gal 1:12 For I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it except by a revelation of Jesus Christ. 1Th 2:13 And for this cause we thank God without ceasing, that when you received the Word of hearing, of God, you welcomed it as the Word of God, not as a word of men, but as it is, truly the Word of God, which also effectually works in you who believe. Rev 22:18 For I testify together to everyone who hears the Words of the prophecy of this Book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add on him the plagues that have been written in this Book.

Why Must We Be So Dogmatic? 1. Every doctrine we adhere too finds its basis and authority in the scripture.

2. To reject full inspiration would begin a course of continual rejection of bible teachings. Why Must We Be So Dogmatic?

3. Rejecting inspiration indicts the claims of Jesus, and the bible writers, implying they were, liars, or lunatics. Why Must We Be So Dogmatic?

4. Rejecting Inspiration will bring the curse of God on our lives. Why Must We Be So Dogmatic?

How? By Changing The Gospel Gal 1:8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! By Changing the Word of God Rev 22:18 For I testify together to everyone who hears the Words of the prophecy of this Book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add on him the plagues that have been written in this Book.

Conclusion or we must reject it all, giving no weight or authority to its claims. We must accept the whole bible and its claims for itself as the fully inspired Word of God, There Is No Middle Ground! All The Bible Is The Inspired Word Of God The Bible Is Not The Inspired Word Of God
