1 Lesson #2 Inspiration Of The Bible
The Holy Bible Lesson #2 Inspiration Of The Bible

2 Introduction The Inspired Word of God
The Bible is also known as the Word of God. Do you believe the Bible? Has anyone ever told you that they don't believe the Bible? Why? Many people unfortunately think the Bible is just another long boring book. But of course the Bible is not just another book, it was given to man from God to reveal Jesus Christ as our savior. From Genesis, the very first book, to Revelations, the last book, the purpose of the Bible is Jesus. In John 5:39 Jesus himself says, "These are the Scriptures that testify about me."

3 Introduction What can we say to people who just don't believe the Bible is the word of God? Let's look up some scriptures that may help us understand the significance and truth about the Bible.

4 Scripture Reading and Discussion:
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Q: Where does all Scripture come from? A: God Q: What is Scripture good for? A: Teaching, rebuking, correcting, training and equipping

5 Scripture Reading and Discussion:
2 Peter 1: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of one's own interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Q: Does Scripture come from the will of man? A: No, from the will of God Q: Who "inspired" or "carried" men to write the Bible? A: The Holy Spirit

6 Scripture Reading and Discussion:
Psalms 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tested in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Q: Does the Bible contain any mistakes? A: No it is flawless Q: What does "pure" gold or silver mean? A: It is gold that has been tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times

7 Scripture Reading and Discussion:
Psalms 119:160 Your word is true from the beginning: and every one of your righteous judgments endures forever. Q: How can you respond to someone who says the Bible isn't true? A: All of God's words are true, so the Bible is also true because it is the Word of God. Q: Does God ever need to come up with new rules or laws? A: No, His laws are eternal.

8 Scripture Reading and Discussion:
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Q: How does God reveal the Bible to us? A: By the Holy Spirit

9 Scripture Reading and Discussion:
We can know for sure that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. The prophet Isaiah said that the earth was round (Isaiah 40:22) long before man believed it to be true. Man thought the world was flat! And not too long ago a young shepherd boy found scrolls that were over 2000 years old. What was written on the scrolls was almost exactly like what we can find today in the book of Isaiah. In addition, numerous archaeological discoveries are proving that from an historical perspective, the Bible is true. But, the Bible is more than just facts and history. The Bible brings us to a saving faith in God through his son Jesus Christ.

10 Activity Old Time Telephone Game
