Honeybee Slide Show By Mrs. Scott’s 3rd Grade Class 2008
Where do honeybees live? You can find honeybees in Africa, Europe and northern and western Asia. They also live in North and South America. Honeybees don’t live near the north and south pole because it’s too cold. (Kian & Kajal)
Honeybees live in colonies. Honeybees live in a tree or hollow log. They live in hives made out of wax. (Hiral & Bhavya) Where Do Honeybees Live?
The life cycle of a honey bee The queen honeybee lays a egg in a clean empty cell. A worker bee feeds the larva. A fully grown larva becomes a pupa. The worker bee seals the cell. The new winged adult is born. (Armin & Christian)
What jobs do honeybees have? Pollinate flowers [worker bees] Lay eggs [Queen] Fertilize the queen [Drones] (Eryn, Karla & Danyal)
What jobs do honeybees have? The bee collects pollen on their body and they transferred it to the stigma to produce seeds. Worker bees guard the honey and the queen bee from outside.
How Honeybees Depend on Flowers Getting pollen from flowers by going flower to flower To get vitamins from flowers to feed to pupa so that they can have a bigger colony To get nectar from flowers so they can make honey They need pollen so they can feed it to pupa/larva (Katie & Peter)
How Do Honeybees Depend On flowers? They collect nectar and pollen to make honey Use pollen and nectar to feed larva\pupa Get vitamins to feed larva\pupa Use the nectar and pollen’s vitamins to grow and become bees that are healthy and do their job (Emily & Sharia)
How do flowers depend on Honey bees? Flowers need Honey bees to pollinate them Flowers need Honey bees to survive Flowers need to be pollinated or they’ll drain out Bees find flowers by sweet smell Honey bees need to pollinate the flower or they’ll die (Stephanie & Heather)
How do flowers depend on bees? Flowers depend on bees to pollinate the new flower so it can produce seeds. Flowers need bees to survive. Bees find flowers by their sweet smell. (Tanya & Jaelynn)
How honey bees make honey? Honeybees make honey with nectar Bees drink nectar that goes in bees and mixes with chemicals from the bee When the bee collects enough honey it carries it and gives it to an other bee (Hunter & Aria)
