History Today, Dec 2006, Vol. 56 Issue 12, p 2-3 The author explores the introduction of the Christmas tree tradition in Great Britain. She asserts that while Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's consort, is usually credited for doing so, it was actually "good Queen Charlotte," the German wife of King George III, who set up the first known English Christmas tree at Queen's Lodge in Windsor, England in December 1800. Details regarding this particular tree and the tradition it began are presented. Reading Level (Lexile): 1390; The First Christmas Tree.

History Today, Dec 2006, Vol. 56 Issue 12, p. 23-29 The author presents historical readings of Christmas stories in the Bible. Comparisons are made between the gospel accounts of Matthew, Luke, Mark, and John, for the purpose of investigating sources. The distinction is made that only Matthew and Luke incorporate accounts of Jesus' infancy, and further distinctions are made between elements that form parts of the Christmas story that are biblical and those that are not. Particular attention is given to the birth stories. Reading Level (Lexile): 1300;
