Learning through real ‘live’ experience in context,over a period of time, giving time for reflection and further enhanced learning Opportunity to be guided by specialist pharmacists gain feedback from other healthcare professionals experience different areas of pharmacy practice then specialist in clinical area whilst developing further advanced skills experience enhanced learning mini- CEX, CbD There are a wide range of experts to help and guide you…with mentors within the service who have undertaken the training recently…S2 Based on achievement of competence, consistent approach to practice develop a wide variety of skills systematic practice S2 problem solving skills S2,3 communication skills S2,3,4 organisational skills S2 consistency of practice S2,3 Based on continuous assessment different forms of evidence…not one final exam Structured training programme resources framework of tasks meetings with tutor support from specialists Research has shown that undertaking structured training with guidance from specialists increases confidence Provides > requirement for CPD records as required by the GPhc S2,3,4 e -ksf – may provide opportunities for promotion

Takes time …need to reflect and re experience to demonstrate learning and consistent practice Can be frustrating when ‘time for learning’ is cancelled…. specialists aren’t available Takes time … need to plan, discuss and seek feedback from others Can be time consuming when selecting evidence to include in your portfolio writing up the different forms of evidence… often out with hours… Takes patience…feedback needs acted on, some revision of evidence Needs development and agreement of objectives prior to each section of the rotation But… with e portfolio things should be easier!
