3 Minnesota ENA State & Chapter 2014 Leader Orientation Minnesota expects that each state and chapter leader is oriented to their role and when term is served, they help transition new person into the role. These modules are to assist in this process. Zumbro GTCCentral Lake Superior Passing the infamous “boxes of office” to the new leaders.

5 Minnesota ENA State & Chapter 2015 Leader Orientation Zumbro GTCCentral Lake Superior An invitation to enroll in the Leadership education was sent to all listed leaders. It is accessed via the on line learning and is free. The test was very simple – mostly acknowledging you did it!

7 Roles & Responsibilities President Responsible for welfare & activity of state/chapter Presides over meetings, etc. Ensures: ~ compliance ~ plans meetings, programs, & activities ~ Officers, BOD, committees carry out functions ~ completes/submits reports to National ENA ~ appoints, delegates, & ensures orientation Secretary/Treasurer Records and retains activities/minutes Helps president with agenda, distribute minutes, send notices Controls/supervises $$$ of state/chapter Creates budget with president Reports financial status Maintain documents related to corporate status Ensures tax documents filed Submits financial documents to National ENA ~ participates in quarterly calls hosted by National ENA

8 Minnesota ENA State & Chapter 2014 Leader Orientation Special note on Agenda’s & minutes ~ Agenda & any supporting data is sent out prior to meeting to allow time for members to review & prep for meeting. ~ Members should come to meeting prepared to discuss the information ~ Members wishing to add to agenda should let president know ahead of time, or request addition to agenda at time of meeting. Member should also forward any documents needed ahead of time, or bring sufficient quantities for distribution at the meeting ~ Minutes reflect attendance, topics, votes, and actions taken. 24 Minnesota ENA State & Chapter 2014 Leader Orientation (w)Rapping it up ~ verbal reporting on assignments at meetings (would it be good for STAT?) ~ requesting additional resources (people, money, time) from group ~ submit/ provide input to end of year report ~ pass on what goals were for past year, what goals were added during the year, what goals were completed, suggestions for future goals; as well as status of group ~ pass on materials required for your job to the next person. The focus has changed to being pro-active, rather than “just meeting minimum”.
