MAN UP BIBLE SERIES Living a Legacy Lesson Eleven

The Real World In the final lesson of this “Living the Legacy” Bible Series, I want to make clear that while I admire these great men of the Bible, I worship the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the One who inspires and empowers us to be more than we ever thought! Jesus is the perfect example for us that when faced with a certain death and separation from His Father he did not shy away from this calling. His life inspires me to live as a Courageous Christian. He had what we all have today ; He depended on the Holy Spirit, Prayer and the Word of God. Philippians 4:13 reminds us; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” Too many men today fall far short of God’s expectations simply because they do not rely on the resource God provides!

The Real Word Hebrews 12 New International Version (NIV) 12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Real Talk What are you really afraid of? What inspires you to do great things? Do you really believe in Philippians 4:13?

Real Steps Lessons from the Life of Christ: Stand up and be courageous. (Heb. 12:1) Use the Word of God as your guide. (2 Cor. 1:20) Do not settle for the sin of this world. (Heb. 12:2) Prepare for a battle with prayer. (Heb. 12:3) Use Scripture as a weapon. (Heb. 4:12)

Time to Close In 168 AD Polycarp was led before an angry mob to be killed for his faith in Christ. He had studied under Paul and was the last living link to the original disciples. His statement rings true today,” Eighty – Six years I have served the Lord Jesus Christ, and He never once wronged me. How can I blaspheme my King who has saved me?” This angered the Romans and they threatened to throw him to the to the lions or burn him at the stake. He responded,” Bring on the beasts, or the fire, or whatever you choose; you shall not move me to deny Christ, my Lord and Savior.” This is what we are called to be in today’s world. There is so much apathy and grey living. Wake up and be like Christ who stood up and lived a courageous life! It is time to MAN UP!
