5 Things to keep in mind… Health Information Technology (HIT) and adoption changes the processes used to provide to provide care – including practice workflow and care delivery needs. Use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) is the fundamental framework (system) for HIT adoption. Therefore, unlike basic office software for work processing or billing systems – which are ancillary tools – electronic health records become a part of your active care delivery process. Therefore – selecting the right EHR system for the way you provide care – is most critical. The process for adopting HIT and selecting EHR system is same whether you’re a solo practice clinic or part of a larger health system or Chiropractic office with many practitioners. What differs is : your needs, your resources (staff) and stage you’re at in EHR journey. 5 #1 Purpose of Toolkit: access to a complete series of tools, documents & resources you may need to help on your journey

6 Using Toolkit Effectively 6 Simplifying the Complex ●Download and use Index & Table of Contents to align tools in the toolkit with your unique practice needs. ●Scan the documents, tools & descriptions. This gives great overview of process – and you may see items & resources you hadn’t thought of!! ●There’s no one-size fits all for selecting, planning, workflow or key criteria. Invest the time to assess & know your unique practice needs. ●Sign up for toolkit updates – take advantage of resources, and peers, and educational materials available. Keys to Success: Keep big picture in mind – the ultimate goal is improving quality of care within your practice environment and for you r patients. Change takes time – have realistic expectation for process, training and time involved. Find the right balance for your office and staff – don’t tackle more than you need or less than you need. Follow the track that’s right for your office.
