3 In a global village of Asians 12 Europeans 8 North Americans 5 South Americans and Carribbeans 13 Africans How many people live in Oceania?

4 Percentage means out of 100 so the global village represents the world in percentages. There are 50 men and 50 women.

5 Percentages 47 live in an urban area How many live in a non-urban area? If 12 are disabled what percentage of the world’s population is not disabled?

6 The world’s religions 33 are Christians 21 are Muslims 6 are Buddhists 1 is Sikh 1 is Jewish 11 are other religions 11 are non-religious 3 are atheists How many are Hindus?

7 Percentages Finding percentages – discuss in pairs the following questions: How do you find 10% of an amount? How do you find 5% of an amount? How do you find 1% of an amount? How do you find 75% of an amount?
