Second NAFE Workshop Objectives NAFE’05 – provide high resolution data for process level understanding of: -soil moisture retrieval -downscaling -and data assimilation. NAFE’06 – provide simulated SMOS data for trial application of: -soil moisture retrieval -downscaling -and data assimilation.
Second NAFE Workshop How to meet the objectives? Mimic a SMOS pixel (50 by 50 km 2 ) Provide multi-incidence L-band data for SMOS algorithm development Provide 1 km surface soil moisture data for verification of downscaling approaches using MODIS Provide simulated SMOS data every 2-3 days for data assimilation
