3. Invention: The Slinky The slinky was invented in the 1945. The first store that the slinky was in was a department store in Philadelphia. They sold over 400 slinky in 90 minutes. A machine was invented that could coil 80 feet of steal wire into a slinky in about 10 seconds. By the time of the 50 th anniversary came around the company uses the machines sold over a quarter billion slinky around the world. The slinky was used for a lot of things like for school, they used to demonstrate the properties of waves. In the 1940s,the navy never took interested in the springs but after that their success in the slinky they began to find particular uses. In 1990, from playground to classroom and climbing down stairways the slinky has educate and has entertain everyone.
