8 EXPECT to be respectful to me, school faculty and the other students. This is a BIG RULE of my class: R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Respect is a two way street. I will show respect for you, and I expect the same in turn, not only to me but to other faculty and your fellow classmates. EXPECT to come to class everyday with all your materials (including your homework!). Your job right now is as a student. Be prepared! EXPECT to know all the Tavares High School rules in the student handbook. You will be held accountable for them! If you choose not to follow the rules, understand that there are consequences to your actions and this policy will be strictly enforced. EXPECT to be challenged. I know that not all of you will go to college, but I am treating this as a college prep class. Therefore, yes, you will be pushed to THINK and CREATE! I believe you can do it. And you will do GREAT! EXPECT to work. Yes, we will have homework. Yes, we will do projects. The homework and projects are there not to punish you, but for you to practice your Spanish. EXPECT to speak Spanish. Expect to do your homework and projects in Spanish. This is Spanish class. Yes, we will speak Spanish in this class. Please don’t be afraid to make mistakes. It is okay. You are learning a new language. Please be respectful of other students while they are speaking Spanish. EXPECT to turn things in ON TIME. EXPECT to be treated like young adults. I WILL NOT spoon-feed you. It will be up to YOU to make sure you are on track in my class. EXPECT to grow. Well yes, maybe you will grow taller, but I am talking about growing in character. I hope that through my class you will learn a little more about yourself, and learn about Hispanic cultures all over the world. EXPECT for me to be there to help you anytime. I am always available by e-mail, and I will have my office hours posted in class. You can talk to me before or after class. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions. EXPECT me to be available 2-3 times a week for “BEFORE SCHOOL TUTORING”. I am here to secure your success in Spanish.
