13 What Roadmaps CNS/AIM (Future Aviation Systems & Technology) – Aeronautical Information Management – ATM Information Management – System-Wide Information Management (SWIM) Avionics (Part of COM/NAV/SUR infrastructure) Project title (Insert, Header & Footer)

14  Today ✓ Many CNS Technologies ✓ Many standards ✓ Regional solutions ✓ Regional service variations CNS Architecture GPS Existing Navigation Systems Existing Communications Systems Existing Surveillance Systems VOR DME Radar ADS VHF SSB VDL SATCOM HFHFD LORAN ILS MLAT

15 Performance Based Air Navigation System Integrated CNS Global utility Global standard Uniform levels of service Synergistic Services Inherent Redundancy Lower Total Cost to Provide Services Communication Navigation & Timing Surveillance PBANS Today Plethora of Disjoint CNS Technologies Regional solutions Many standards Regional service variations CNS Elements Transition GPS Existing Navigation Systems Existing Communications Systems Existing Surveillance Systems VOR DME Radar ADS VHF SSB VDL SATCOM HFHFD LORAN ILS MLAT

COMMUNICATIONS ASIA/PAC Regions (Near – Medium Term) AERONAUTICAL FIXED SERVICE (G/G Communication) AFS to meet requirements of AIS (AIM), ATS (ATM), OPMET, SAR & aircraft operators’ all comm. (ex. AIDC as priority, Extended Markup Language (XML) over AMHS); Started use of Public Internet with special security arrangement - cost effective medium. MET WAFS Traffic (WIFS & File Transfer); AIS-AIM Information distribution; To use for those locations with less traffic and service as back- up purpose; conducting trials for AMHS connections and conformance testing. (ISSUE: National Policy for using Public Internet should be reviewed based on development) Planning and Implementation of integrated ATS ground- ground network to include voice communication requirements and AIDC application.

COMMUNICATIONS (Near – Medium Term) AERONAUTICAL FIXED SERVICE (G/G Communication) VoIP for coordination between FIRs being assessed based on the standards being evaluated by Aeronautical Communication Panel ATN transition expected to be implemented in three phases: Phase 1. Upgrade existing AFTN circuit where necessary Phase 2. Implement regional ATN Backbone BIS (by 2011) Phase 3. Implement supporting ATN BIS (2013)
