HISTORY AND STRUCTURE OF PUBLIC EDUCATION CENTRE Bozyazı Directorship of Public Education Centre which is dependant to the Ministry of National Education and the Directorship of Apperenticeship Education,opened to service in 1988. While it was continuing its educational activities in a temporay small place,in 1996 it moved to the 3rd floor of officials building assigned by the Head Official.

SODES (SOCIAL SUPPORT) PROJECT: BANANA FİBER Banana has an important role on the economy of the region.Our instructors got a practical education named ‘Values which are about to extinct’ from Hafize COŞKUN who accidentally discovered banana fiber years ago.They learnt the methods of taking the fiber out of the body of banana tree.Then they taught it to the adults in our centre.They produced cords from this fiber and started to make different hand-made ornamental accessories such as bags,hats and some other decorative products.These products were displayed in the exhibitions in Mersin and Ankara. Our ‘Banana Fiber’ project was accepted by Mersin Governorship.The budget of this project is 35.000 Euro.When we get this budget we are going to buy a machine which is used to take fiber from trees,and we are going to continue our works professionally.

13. TAEKWONDO COURSE We opened taekvondo course and we trained athlets for national and international competitions.

14. TAEKWONDO: Halk Eğitimi Merkezimizce Tekvando Kursumuz açılmış Türkiye ve Avrupa Şampiyonalarına katılmaları için sporcular yetiştirilmektedir.

15. WORKS FOR CASPAN PROJECT (PRACTICAL ENGLISH COURSE) As part of the CASPAN project,we opened Practical English course for a group of students from Bozyazı Anatolian High School. These students were chosen especially from the families that have low-income. With this course we aimed to raise their success in the university exam and make them gain better speaking skills. In our country language teaching is based on grammar teaching.So we needed to take attention to the importance of speaking and we did different activities to develop their speaking skills in the courses.For example we got help from Oğuzhan ALIÇLI who is retired from USA. He did speaking exercises with the students and he supported us very much as a volunteer. We also found some sponsors to provide documents such as books,worksheets,tests etc. for these students.
