FOR FEDERATIONS FOR FEDERATIONS, CHESS IS A BUSINESS
MEMBERS FOR FEDERATIONS for credibility, any business needs clients and CIS generates those clients = increased respect from government = increased sponsorship possibilities = increased media coverage
businesses also need money, especially cash flow = premises and staff for organization = material = organization of events = training for arbiters and coaches = support for players, especially juniors MEMBERS FOR FEDERATIONS
that cash flow may come from grants - national, regional or local membership fees (including licence fees from arbiters & trainers) fees from clubs, tournaments, rating, etc Sponsorship FIDE MEMBERS FOR FEDERATIONS
