1. Christmas at Campo Maior We are going to know something about Christmas traditions in Campo Maior

2. Traditions: On the streets: In Campo Maior we use to put lights on the streets, bandstand, Town Hall, etc. We also use to put a créche, this year placed in the municipal garden. At home: Like in others countries here in Campo Maior we have Christmas tree, the créche, we put decorations, lights and Santa Claus or Angels in the balconies, windows, and doors.

3. Gastronomy: In Christmas Eve we use to eat cockle with pork meat; codfish, or squalus with finely spinach chopped greens. The desserts use to be tour traditional kind of sole (tortilhas), cericáia, sweet clouds (sopas sem pão).tortilhascericáia On December 25th we eat the traditional turkey.

4. Till midnight: After dinner we sing to Infant Jesus and we play the ronca (zabumba) while waiting midnight to gifts exchange.zabumba After this we all go to the Cock Mass.

5. Cock Mass In Campo Maior, like in others regions we have the Cock Mass. This Mass is celebrated in the night of 24th to 25th, at midnight. We dont have an explanation for its name. Usually the people tell that it has this name because the cock sings at midnight and also at midday, and for this reason they call it cock mass.
