1 God’s Love

2 The Dimensions of God’s Love
The love of God is great.

3 Ephesians 2:4-7 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

4 John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends."

5 The Dimensions of God’s Love
The love of God is great. It is the single most powerful force in existence. It reaches out in every direction.

6 Ephesians 3:14-16 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,

7 Ephesians 3:17-19 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height-- to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

8 The Dimensions of God’s Love
The love of God is great. It is the single most powerful force in existence. It reaches out in every direction. But what are the dimensions of God’s love? what are its width, length, depth and height?

9 The Width of God’s Love It is so wide that it covers the whole world.

10 John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

11 John 3:19-21 "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

12 The Width of God’s Love It is so wide that it covers the whole world.
It is as wide as God Himself, for God is love.

13 1 John 4:8, 16 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

14 The Length of God’s Love
It is from everlasting to ever-lasting.

15 Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: "Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you."

16 The Length of God’s Love
It is from everlasting to ever-lasting. It reaches out to the ends of the earth.

17 Mark 16:15-16 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned."

18 Acts 1:7-8 And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

19 The Length of God’s Love
It is from everlasting to ever-lasting. It reaches out to the ends of the earth. It will outlast both faith and hope.

20 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

21 The depth of God’s Love It reaches down to the lowest of sinners.

22 Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

23 1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

24 The depth of God’s Love It reaches down to the lowest of sinners.
It will reach down into the grave to raise the righteous unto ever-lasting life.

25 John 5:28-29 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth--those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

26 The Height of God’s Love
It is the highest of loves because it “expresses ideas previously un-known” (W.E. Vine).

27 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

28 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

29 The Height of God’s Love
It is the highest of loves because it “expresses ideas previously un-known” (W.E. Vine). It is the highest of loves because it is extended to all men.

30 John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

31 The Height of God’s Love
It is the highest of loves because it “expresses ideas previously un-known” (W.E. Vine). It is the highest of loves because it is extended to all men. It is so high we would not be able to reach it had God and Jesus not demonstrated it for us.

32 1 John 3:16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

33 1 John 4:9-10, 19 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. We love Him because He first loved us.

34 The Dimensions of God’s Love
The love of God for man is indeed great and powerful. The word that is most often used to denote the love of God is “the characteristic word of Christianity.” (W.E. Vine) Agape

35 The Dimensions of God’s Love
Not only does it “describe the attitude of God toward His Son … the human race, generally … and to such as believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, particularly,” but it is also used “to convey His will to His children concerning their attitude one toward another … and toward all men.” (W.E. Vine)

36 The Dimensions of God’s Love
Just think of it. we are capable of loving as God loves.

37 Matthew 5:44-46 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

38 The Dimensions of God’s Love
Just think of it. we are capable of loving as God loves. And, if we love as God loves, then nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ.

39 Romans 8:35-36 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." Psalm 44:22

40 Romans 8:37-38 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
