Applying 1 John 1:1 – 2:2 Confidence Contentment Joy Service
Confidence Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Confidence 1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed
Confidence & Freedom Your future is certain, therefore you need not…. Strive for perfection Your eternity is secure, therefore you need not…. Work for self-serving purposes
Freedom Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death
Confidence/Freedom => Contentment Matthew 6:25 Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Contentment Titus 6:6 Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment
Contentment => Joy 1 John 1:4 And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.
How is Gods Word a Blessing onto Joy for us? John 15:11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full
We are now, Joyfully Free to… SERVE OTHERS as an expression of our love for CHRIST John 21:17 He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, Do you love me? and he said to him, Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you. Jesus said to him, Feed my sheep
How do we feed the Sheep? Romans 15:5,6 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
How can we be vessels of Endurance and Encouragement? Acts 14:22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God
We are to… Bless others with Forgiveness … 1 Corinthians 4:12 and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure
We are to… Forgive others…. 2 Corinthians 2:7 so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow
We are to… Confess ours sins to our brother/sister and seek after their forgiveness… James 5:16a Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed
We are to… Build each other up… 1 Corinthians 14:26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.
We should… Do more than encourage with words, we need to encourage and serve with… Action James 2:15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?
But remember… John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
