1 CHRIST IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
Acts 8:26-39

2 CHRIST IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
26But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, "Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza." (This is a desert road.) 27So he got up and went; and there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he had come to Jerusalem to worship, 28and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah. 29Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot." 30Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?" 31And he said, "Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this: "he was led as a sheep to slaughter; and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he does not open his mouth. 33in humiliation his judgment was taken away; who will relate his generation? for his life is removed from the earth." 34The eunuch answered Philip and said, "Please tell me, of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself or of someone else?" 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him. 36As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said, "Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?" Larry A Bunch

37[And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."] 38And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him. 39When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but went on his way rejoicing. 7 CHRIST IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
John 1: 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. John 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.“ Christ is coming John 5:39 Larry A Bunch

8 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Gen.3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel." Genesis 12:1-3 1Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. 2I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." Larry A Bunch

9 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Gen.22:18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.“ Gal.3:16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," who is Christ. Larry A Bunch

10 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Acts 3: 12So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: "Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. Larry A Bunch

11 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Acts 3: 25You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, "And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.' 26To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.“ Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. SEED OF WOMAN EXPLAINED Larry A Bunch

12 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Matt.1: 20But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins." 22So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us." Larry A Bunch

13 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
SEED OF DAVID Gal.4:4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 2 Sam.7:11-14 since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the LORD tells you that He will make you a house. 12"When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. Larry A Bunch

14 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
JESUS Matt.1:1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: Acts 2: Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, 31he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Larry A Bunch

15 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Acts 2:29 "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 2 Samuel 7:12 "When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. Larry A Bunch

16 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Romans 1:3-4 4concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, 4and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Larry A Bunch

17 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Luke 1: "And behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. 32He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; 33and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and His kingdom will have no end." ESTABLISHED DAVID'S THRONE Larry A Bunch

18 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Acts 2: "Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. 34For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says: 'the lord said to my lord, "sit at my right hand, 35until i make thine enemies a footstool for thy feet."' 36Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ--this Jesus whom you crucified." Larry A Bunch

19 CHRIST IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION
Heb.1:8 But of the Son He says, "thy throne, o god, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of his kingdom. Acts 1:3 To these (apostles) He also presented Himself alive, after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God. 26 CHRIST IN THE O.T. IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT JESUS IN THE N.T.
1 Cor.15:1-4 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 3For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures Larry A Bunch

27 CHRIST IN THE O.T. IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT JESUS IN THE N.T.
Acts 2:22-36 "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know— 23this Man, delivered up by the predetermined plan and fore-knowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. 24And God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power. Larry A Bunch

28 CHRIST IN THE O.T. IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT JESUS IN THE N.T.
25For David says of Him, l WAS ALWAYS BEHOLDING THE LORD IN MY PRESENCE; FOR HE IS AT MY RIGHT HAND, THAT I MAY NOT BE SHAKEN. 26THEREFORE MY HEART WAS GLAD AND MY TONGUE EXULTED; MOREOVER MY FLESH ALSO WILL ABIDE IN HOPE; 27BECAUSE THOU WILT NOT ABANDON MY SOUL TO HADES, NOR ALLOW THY HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY. 28THOU HAST MADE KNOWN TO ME THE WAYS OF LIFE; THOU WILT MAKE ME FULL OF GLADNESS WITH THY PRESENCE. Larry A Bunch

29 CHRIST IN THE O.T. IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT JESUS IN THE N.T.
29Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Already read v. 30f Acts 8: 32Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this: "HE WAS LED AS A SHEEP TO THE SLAUGHTER; AND AS A LAMB BEFORE ITS SHEARER IS SILENT, SO HE DOES NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH. 33IN HUMILIATION HIS JUDGMENT WAS TAKEN AWAY; WHO SHALL RELATE HIS GENERATION? FOR HIS LIFE IS REMOVED FROM THE EARTH." Our Text Acts 8:26-39 Larry A Bunch

30 CHRIST IN THE O.T. IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT JESUS IN THE N.T.
Why was the Messiah to submit to humiliation? As a sacrifice for sin, as spoken in the prophets. Christ is the pivotal point of all the Bible, and without His blood there is no forgiveness. How do I reach the blood of Christ? One cannot preach Christ without preaching baptism: note the question asked by the Ethiopian in Acts 8:37. How did he know about baptism? Philip preached Christ and it necessarily includes baptism since it is through baptism one reaches the blood. Larry A Bunch

31 CHRIST IN THE O.T. IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT JESUS IN THE N.T.
Rom.6:1-6 1What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace might increase? 2May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? 3Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life, Larry A Bunch

32 CHRIST IN THE O.T. IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT JESUS IN THE N.T.
5For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection, 6knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin; Larry A Bunch

33 CHRIST IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
Jesus Christ is the Son of God as proclaimed by the Scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation. Larry A Bunch
