The Scarlet Letter UnitPreparation
What would you do? Consider the following situations. What do your personal ethics suggest?
Personal Ethics On a scale of one to five, rate the following offenses or crimes. (one means not an offense or a crime at all; five means a terrible offense or crime).
Personal Ethics Your family is homeless and your children are starving, so you steal a loaf of bread from the grocery store. (Rate on a scale of one to five)
Personal Ethics You cheat on a final exam.
Personal Ethics You see another student cheating openly on a final exam but decide not to report it.
Personal Ethics Someone with a gun jumps you on a deserted street. Somehow, you manage to get the gun away, and you shoot and kill the person.
Personal Ethics You want to accompany friends to a rock concert in a town 50 miles away, but your mother says you can’t go. Later, you tell her you’re going to spend the night with a friend, then you go to the concert anyway.
Personal Ethics You are pregnant (or your girlfriend is).
Personal Ethics Another student made you look foolish on the first day of school. You spend the rest of the school year making them pay.
Personal Ethics You receive a grade card with several failing grades. The card requires a parent signature. You don’t show your parents but forge your dad’s signature and return the grade card to school.
