THE SUN The Sun is a star. It is the star that is closest to the Earth.

THE SUN The Sun warms us up. It is the only star that is near enough to the Earth so we can feel its heat.
THE SUN The Sun provides the Earth with the light and heat we need to survive.
The Sun provides the light and heat that plants need to grow. We need plants for food and for oxygen to breathe.
THE SUN Our Sun is the closest star to Earth. It is the center of our Solar System. All the planets and other objects orbit around the Sun. Earth
THE SUN The Sun defines when we have our seasons. The Sun helps plants grow. The Sun’s heat and light allow us to live on Earth.

THE SUN- OBSERVING THE SUN NEVER look directly at the Sun. It can damage your eyes. You can view the sun by making a small hole in a piece of paper. The hold the paper with the hole about a meter from a black piece of paper. You will see an image of the sun.
THE SUN- DESCRIBING THE SUN The Sun is a medium-sized star. The Sun is a sphere. The Sun is very HOT- like a giant oven. The Sun provides light and heat for the Earth. The Sun has features on it (more on this later).

At night we can see many stars, but during the day we see our “daytime” star- the Sun.
