2 2 Working in the ENGO sector for 8 years – legal status acquired in April 2008; 1 3 members from 12 counties plus the capital city, Bucharest, work done in 25 counties; Since 2009 – member of Climate Action Network Europe; Since 2008, National Focal Point in Romania for Art. 6 – Education, Training and Awareness under the UNFCCC; Develops and promotes activities related to education for sustainable development and climate change policies.

5 5 Projects: 2009-2011 Working with local communities to implement local actions on energy planning, efficiency and RES (Innovation Norway and GEF SGP) –4 demonstrative projects implemented in 4 different rural/small urban areas of the country – around 15000 beneficiaries –local initiative groups (citizens and informal leaders) that offer planning and counseling to the local administration –Involvement of stakeholders in energy planning –www.comunitativerzi.ro (project website)www.comunitativerzi.ro Project leaders: Earthfriends Association and CAN RO

10 10 Projects: 2008-2009 “Move4Nature” –In the context of the Carpathian Convention –5 towns involved in Romania + 4 other countries –One guide to education for sustainable development in mountain areas (5 languages) –5 training sessions for teachers in Romania –Application of the manual in schools in all 5 towns –Around 500 beneficiaries in Romania Project leader: UNEP Vienna

15 15 TERRA Mileniul III “Buy green!” [2009-2010] –Results: 150 companies registered on portal –Products: portal www.achizitiiverzi.ro and 800 copies Catalogue Green Procurementwww.achizitiiverzi.ro “Sustainable use of biomass for energy purposes” [2009- 2010] –Results: pilot project on biomass briquetts –Products: 1 installation for briquetting Romanian Cities fighting Climate Change: before and after Copenhagen 2009 [2009 - 2010] –Results: 260 participants in 8 regions –Products: brochures, leaflets, 1 GHG inventory for municipalities and 2 draft strategies for Giurgiu and Ploiesti. Sustainable public transport in Bucharest [2008-2009] –Results: 24 persons trained on climate change –Products: one study on sustainable transport in Bucharest

16 16 Earthfriends “Small communities, schools and NGOs implement climate-friendly solutions” [2009- 2011] –Development of a center for local traditions and energy in Brusturoasa – demonstrative center for the use of renewable energy. –Awareness and education on climate change for communities allover that part of the Trotus Valley (Valea Muntelui) –Communication and local facilitation of initiatives involving local authorities, schoold, local leaders, small entrepreneurs etc.

17 17 2 Celsius “RideAcross” [2009-2010] –bike charity for pupils in isolated and remote areas of Romania. –donation of 30 bikes to all the young students that live in the highlands of Cugir (Southern Transylvania) in order to ride to school. –Support for new concepts such as Green Jobs and Green Collars in local industrial enterprises; Promotion of the sustainable transport in the Romanian national media. –Biking route: UK (Sheffield) – Netherlands (Rotterdam) – Rhein River (Germany) – Bavaria (Germany) – Vienna (Austria) – Bratislava (Slovakia) – Budapest (Hungary) – Cugir (Romania) –Weblog and media coverage for above-mentionned concepts. Central and Eastern Europe Journalism platform –Around 150 visitors per day –Articles written by journalists from Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Belgium, Latvia, Romania, USA, UK (all available in English)

18 18 Green Transylvania “Eco-conscious buyers” [2009-2010] –Campaign regarding the carbon footprint of common products we buy; –“decalogue” for buyers – what to do to reduce your climate footprint and support local producers; –Web, video and written media promotion; –Around 150 000 beneficiaries.
