3 doc.: IEEE /1587r0 Submission October 2006 Eldad Perahia (Intel)Slide 3 Introduction MCS 32 is currently the only HT duplicate mode in 40MHz MCS 32 uses BPSK and code rate equal to ½ This provides processing gain over MCS 0 The question is whether duplicate modes with higher modulation and code rates would provide an advantage over current MCSs

6 doc.: IEEE /1587r0 Submission October 2006 Eldad Perahia (Intel)Slide 6 Summary We have shown that duplicate QPSK, r=1/2 mode provides the same performance as MCS 0 (BPSK, r=1/2) There is no need to add extra modes with similar data rates and performance –Note: a duplicate QPSK, r=1/2 mode would actually be lower data rate than MCS 0 Resolution –Reject: Additional HT duplicate modes will provide the same performance as current MCSs.
