6 Assignment 1 (P1 ) Task 1 (p1) Answer the following questions;
1 What is the difference between health and well being? 2 Explain Maslow’s Theory of needs. Do you agree with this, why? You can insert a diagram too but a diagram alone will not be enough you must explain what it means.  Task 2 (P1) Copy this table in to work, list as many needs as you can think of.    Infants Children Adolescents Adults 65 + Physical Intellectual Emotional Social Spiritual

7 Assignment 1 :Task 3 (P1) Task 3 Case Study 1 (P1)
John is a widow being cared for in a nursing home, after having a severe stroke. He is 61 years old. He was a full time factory worker. He worked alternate shifts, nights one week, days the next week. His partner was unemployed, and he had to do overtime to afford to pay the bills, and support his partner and his 5 children. John has told the manager of the nursing home that as a child he was physically abused and he self-harmed, making him very depressed in his childhood and adulthood. Before his stroke he was a heavy smoker, he has since given up. However, he is overweight. When John was first admitted into the nursing home, the manager set up an action plan aimed to improve John’s health. Use each level of Maslow’s Hierarchy to identify the needs that John has. For example: John’s physical needs are food, water, shelter, clothing and warmth Task 4 P1 Explain the factors that that have affected John’s well being, go on to identify the PIES needs that he has due to these factors.

8 What influences our needs
I’m sure that you can all name a time when you have felt on top of the world and can manage on your own, but have most of you will also remember a time where you have needed support and guidance to remain physically and emotionally well.. Our needs change through life. We go through VULNERABLE stages and periods of independence. What influences your needs? Make a list...

9 Factors that Influence well being
We can categorise the factors which influence our needs. These categories are Socio Economic Physical Lifestyle Health Look at your list, can you categorise the factors which have influenced your health and wellbeing?

10 Assessment Task P2 Make 2 illustrated mind maps showing the socio economic and physical factors that can affect our health and wellbeing. Write a short rationale for each one, explaining their effects on an individual’s health needs and wellbeing. Include at least 4 examples on each mind map Use pages 58 – 59 to help you with your ideas.

11 Factors that Influence Well Being
Task 2 (P2) Create a table that identifies the socio economic, Physical and Lifestyle factors that could have an influence on the well being of individuals. Include negative and positive outcomes. Help sheet provided for elderly poor and children Use P 58 – 62 to help you

12 Finished - What now? To achieve P3 you need to work in a pair to create a questionnaire that will help you to create a care plan for an individual. However you can already start this on your own if necessary. The questionnaire will be used to assess the factors that are influencing the health and wellbeing of a service user. It must cover all 4 areas of health and well being.

13 Task P3 In a pair create a questionnaire with 10 to 12 questions that will enable you to assess the health and wellbeing of an individual. Next week these will be given back to you, filled in and you will create a care plan for the service user that has filled in your questionnaire. You will need to ask questions that help you to find out as much as you can about lifestyle, health, socio economic and physical issues influencing your service user, so choose your questions sensibly and carefully. I would suggest that you start with a text box that asks the service user to write a short personal statement so you can find out some information, as you only have 10 to 12 questions to ask. Good Luck

14 Assignment 3: An assessment of Health and well being.
Task 1 (P3) Create a questionnaire that you will give to a service user to interpret their health and wellbeing. This should include questions based on health (weight, fitness, illnesses or diagnosed conditions). And well being (morale, self esteem, life style). Give the questionnaire to your service user to fill in.

15 To end... Have you met your LO?
Tick of on your sheet all the tasks you have now completed – You should be up to P3 which means ALL P1 and P2 tasks should now be completed including your assessment task from today. Have you saved all tasks with appropriate task tile in your Unit 3 file and does each task have a header with your name and task title? Have you met your LO? LO: Identify the socio economic and physical factors which influence Health and Wellbeing. Describe how socio economic and physical factors influence Health and Wellbeing (at least 4 of each).
