5 ITU Competition Rules The ITU Competition Rules are intended to: Create an atmosphere of sportsmanship, equality, and fair play. Provide safety and protection. Emphasise ingenuity and skill without unduly limiting the athlete’s freedom of action. Penalise athletes who gain an unfair advantage. Endorse the principle that Triathlon and Duathlon are individual sports and encourage individual performance and initiative.

11 ITU Technical Officials' Certification Program Level 2 (Continental Technical Official) Type of Event that Can Manage As Technical Delegate Multisport Continental Championships, Multisport Series Events, Continental Cup As Referee or Chief Technical Official (e.g. Chief Swim, etc) Triathlon Continental Championships, Multisport World Championships, Games, World Cup, World Championships Series As Assistant Technical Official Olympic Games, Major Multisport Games CriteriaTwo (2) years as NTO, minimum four (4) ITU events within 4 previous years, attend the ITU Level 2 Course successfully
