Assembly and painting procedures.

Electrical Projects Voltage, amperage, conductor size and type, types of motors and controls, circuit protection, GFCI, etc. An electrical schematic should be included in documentation and understood by students. An understanding of processes used in construction of the wood or metal parts of the project.

Livestock Equipment An understanding of the wood, metal, hydraulic, and electrical procedures used in construction. Explain how it works and the dimensions used, etc.

Trailers Metal and wood construction Running gear location and capacity. Spring hanger spacing. Requirements to meet TxDOT rules and regulations. Federal lighting charts and/or other TxDOT regulations. Hydraulics if equipped and schematic.

Entering Projects at San Antonio Special Rule 1 for 2011 Projects entered correctly including naming. Entry fee is $30 per project. Ag Mech entries must be on official group summary sheet along with other Junior entries. Exhibitor names and social security numbers are required on entry form. It is imperative that exhibitor names and project descriptions (names) be correct. Use San Antonio document for San Antonio and Houston document for Houston.

Show History First show at Houston had students present, but few questions were asked by the judge. Plans and bill-of-materials were required. Photos were added to document that projects were constructed by students. DOT and ASABE standards and regulations were added. Safe conditions and personal safety equipment along with evidence of adult supervision were added as a requirement in photos. San Antonio requires additional information. Students now show projects and meet the public. They are SHOWS. I hope we can say they continue to put the exhibitors first. That is our goal.

Documents Available from Houston Constructing and Showing Agricultural Mechanics Projects Summary of TxDOT Requirements for Ag Mech Show Trailers. Naming and Describing Projects for Show Others
