5 Obstacles to Overcome in th Principal in ten years (3 rd in last three years) Had to replaced 50% of staff who had resigned during 2009 school year 50% of our students were new because of desegregation order with Department of Justice Moved into a new campus at end of July No student schedule requests from prior year Basically a non-existent extracurricular program No Academic UIL team 6 PTA members Almost 200 arrests made by Longview PD previous year Low teacher morale

Helps in building self esteem for students Every student feels like they are part of your community Continue education past high school Relationships are formed Assist students in learning to deal with adults Hold all students accountable – academics and discipline

8 What the school can do… The school has to reach out to the community Church, pastors, small businesses, corporations, non-profits Host a luncheon or breakfast first, to introduce your school to the future stakeholders Share your vision and mission, invite students and teachers to speak, present and serve Communicate, communicate, communicate!
