With the r16 release, the CA ARCserve Products Family will continue to be sold multiple ways. Product Management has worked with sales, marketing and partners to expand and streamline the available licensing models to meet customer needs. The available licensing options can be simplified down into 4 categories, Component Licensing, Modular Licensing, Managed Capacity Licensing, and Monthly Subscription Licensing.
Component Licensing, which has previously been referred to as ‘”la carte” licensing, is available for each product category, ARCserve Backup, ARCserve D2D, ARCserve Replication and High Availability, and finally the new ARCserve Central Applications.
Modular Licensing, an evolution of what has previously been referred to as “Suite” or “Solution” licensing, is a bundled license offering designed to simplify the customers buying decision by offering several fixed solutions targeted toward specific protection needs. Licensed per server, there are four Backup Only Modules and 4 Backup w/ D2D and Replication Modules, each targeted toward File Server, Database, or Application protection. And finally 1 new Module which is a bundle of ARCserve D2D and two licenses of ARCserve Replication.
Managed Capacity Licensing is now available for most any ARCserve product configuration, and gives unlimited access to the selected product technology to protect up to the purchased license capacity. Product offerings include ARCserve Backup, ARCserve D2D, ARCserve Replication, ARCserve High Availability, ARCserve Backup w/ ARCserve Replication and High Availability, and finally ARCserve “All Inclusive” Managed Capacity which includes access to ALL ARCserve Products.
Monthly Subscription Licensing is available exclusively to Authorized Managed Service Providers. It provides a flexible and economical way for MSP to license core ARCserve technology to provide services to their customers. MSPs can license on a per “protected” server or per “protected” capacity model.

The major changes to the pricing model are designed to:
Reintroduce our Component based pricing – approximately 3 years ago CA stopped selling a-la-carte based pricing and subsequently only sold the simplified suites – this created a great deal of challenges for sales and partners a like….. If a customer purchased a “Suite” the only way to add individual components was to buy an entire suite and then “Discount” the product to only pay for the features a customer wanted. -- You can see this may cause a lot of challenges with selling and reporting…..
The other major changes to the Pricing model was a renaming and rebranding of our Products:
Our Suites in the past were called “Suites” they are now referred to as “Solution” and are now using industry standard naming conventions….. This will be covered in the next few slides….
Also, we have created a 3 tier purchasing model for Managed Capacity “Backup Only, Replication and High Availability only and Full protection – all in…” See more in the following slides….
