2John 12:27-34…“Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” This He said, signifying by what death He would die. The people answered Him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?
3“Who is this Son of Man?”I. Basic Meaning. There are times it can mean merely “man” (i.e. a human being).“God is not a man…nor a son of man” (Numbers 23:19). Heb. ben-‘adam meaning “son of man, son of Adam.”“Man, who is a maggot…and the son of man who is a worm” (Job 25:4-6).“What is man…and the son of man?” (Psalm 8:4; 144:3 [ben-‘anish – a more generic word for man]; Hebrews 2:6 quotes Ps. 8:4).
