Precautions Please make the following notations when installing larger diameter Hymax Couplings Always Verify Pipe Diameter with an O.D. Tape and Make sure it falls within the diameter range of the coupling Always unpack the coupling and inspect for shipping damage Prepare pipe ends and mark the stab depth according to directions Back out Centering pins Size Gasket According to Instructions Never Lubricate Bolts (they are pre-lubricated) Do lubricate ductile iron and asbestos pipe Do not lubricate PVC, Steel or Polyethylene Pipe surfaces

If Coupling Moves Due to Pressure Differential, Centering Pin Bottoms Out on Pipe End Preventing Loss of Seal Small End Flow Direction Big End

9 14 to 24 Inch Hymax Installation Procedure Prepare Pipe Ends – De-scale and Clean, Mark Pipe Ends for a Maximum Stab Depth of 5” 5” 5”

10 Loosen Centering Pins (Anti Drift Pins)
1 - Pin in Set Position 2 – Pin Set for Installation Loosening of Pin allows for full Retraction of Coupling over pipe end

11 14 to 24 Inch Hymax Stab Pipe Ends to the Proper Insertion Depth
Remaining End Gap Between Pipe Ends is 2 – 3 Inches Pipe Ends Stabbed into Couplings

12 Pins are One Inch Diameter – outside view
After Stabbing Pipe, Tighten the Centering Pins to seat the “O”Ring Seal on the back side of the Pin Pins are One Inch Diameter – outside view

13 Seated Anti-Drift Pin – Inside View

14 Tighten All Bolts on Compression Ring to the required torque to properly seat the Gasket
Two Bolts per End Torque Requirement is 150 ft. lbs. Required Wrench – 17 to 21 inch long wrench handle and 15/16” (24 mm) pass through socket Cross Tighten evenly Always check for leaks prior to burial If leakage occurs, re-torque nuts and bolts as required.
