Figure 1 Modeling Barth Syndrome with Disease-Specific Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells iPSCs are generated from patients suffering from Barth syndrome. Additionally, disease-specific mutations are introduced into wild-type iPSC lines enabling direct comparison with isogenic controls. iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes are applied in a “heart-on-chip” assay to model the pathophysiology in vitro to investigate the underlying mechanism of Barth syndrome and to evaluate potential therapies.
