6 Banks Cash based society Limited opening and closing times 9.00am – 3.00pm You need a gaijin card and hanko to open an account Your BOE will choose your bank for you Joyo Bank only in Ibaraki/Tokyo Makes it hard if you travel outside of the pref. Don t lose your (bank book)

7 ATMS ATMs have strange opening times 24 hours banking? You can use ATMs at convenience stores but extra fees apply (110 yen) Not all convenience store ATMs are 24 hours … Cards from home International VISA cards don t work at normal ATMs even if they say VISA International Cirrus cards don t work at normal ATMs Citibank has many branches/ATMS in Tokyo. ATMs are open 24 hours
