CREATING A NEW WAFL DISTRICT BY SHAUN MOELLER AND RYAN HARRIS
AIM Our aim was to create a new Western Australian Football club which would create a district able to support up and coming talent within the state We tried to aim for communities which allow young AFL sportsmen in somewhat remote communities( who have the potential) to be able to participate against inner city clubs and player
DATA WORTH CONSIDERATION Popularity of AFL in area Other WAFL districts proximity Available land resources Funding (sponsorships) Population Access to area (transportation)
PROGRAMMING AND SOURCES USED Google Earth software Landgate public available information which includes maps engines Australian Bureau of statistics online census data Some general Wikipedia data
MORE FACTS - According to the ABS the proposed area around Gin Gin has a population of around people where as Bunbury has around Local clubs have had direct impacts to other WAFL clubs but these clubs are around 60 km away which can make for long traveling to and from areas (Gin Gin) - A WAFL club in the area will encourage kids to take up the sport and will also encourage adults (25-54 that make up about 38% of the population) to get involved in the sport and contribute) (Gin Gin) -Allows a better selection of local talent to be picked for development squads to play in Perth -Bunbury allows a larger metropolitan area with more funding and infastructure
CONCLUSION - With this information we conclude that it would be a positive opportunity to set up a new WAFL club in the Gin Gin area, it has more potential than the Bunbury area despite its economic growth.
