Where is the Water Found on Earth?
Groundwater Groundwater is freshwater under Earths surface. Rain soaks into and through the soil and collects above solid rock.
Estuary Estuary is places where fresh water from rivers meets the ocean. Estuary is places where fresh water from rivers meet the ocean.
Two –thirds of our bodies are water.
A person should drink eight glasses of water or about two quarts of water each day.
Most of the earths water is found in glaciers and icecaps near the poles. glacier icecaps
Two types of water on Earth: Fresh water and salt water. Fresh water Salt water
Ways to use fresh water: Drinking Bathing Cooking Growing plants for food.
Some places where fresh water is found. Streams Rivers Lakes Ponds Ice glaciers Ice caps Underground
Fresh water is formed in rain or snow.
Most of the Earths water is salt water. It cover two-thirds or our planets surface.
The Pacific Ocean is Earths largest ocean. It is so big that all of Earths land could fit inside it.
Where does most of the salt water on Earth come from? Weathered rocks
Ocean water is too salty to drink. The salt in ocean water is greater than the concentration of salt in human body tissues. Drinking ocean water leads to unhealthful dehydration and more thirst.
Dehydration is a dangerous lack of water in the body.
The Water Cycle Lesson 2
Evaporation Evaporation is the changing of a liquid into a gas.
Condensation Condensation is the changing of a gas into a liquid.
Precipitation Precipitation is water that falls to Earth as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
Adding heat or taking away heat changes the form of water.
Water can be found in various forms Gas as in water vapor. Liquid as water Solid as ice.
Water vapor in air can also freeze as it condenses, to form frost. Air must be cold for frost to form.
Water Treatment Plant Water treatment plants treat water or filters water from rivers or lakes. They also filter some water that has been used. Water treatment plants clean the water before human consumption.
Filter means to clean dirt, chemicals, and bacteria from the water.
