6 The ramifications Know: –Student capabilities –Student needs –Instructor capabilities –Hardware configurations –Network connectivity in a variety of locations

7 The ramifications Know: –Course offerings from a variety of institutions –Platforms used by various institutions –Specs required to run various platforms

8 The Students Literacy level Computer literacy level What do they want to learn? Preferred learning styles Level of self-directedness

9 The Instructors Cultural sensitivity issues Computer literacy Knowledge of online instructional techniques Willingness

10 Hardware, Software, Connectivity Does the student have what is needed? If not, can it be obtained? Will it work in that location?

11 Platforms Web-CT Blackboard Elluminate AOL, MSN, Yahoo Messenger Lotus Notes Etc. etc. etc...

12 The Response Crying just causes wrinkles!!

13 Better Responses Get to know techs at the institutions you partner with Play – get acquainted with as many platforms as possible

14 Better Responses Become knowledgeable about system specs and requirements Ensure adequate student support
