Point 9: Use of estimations in the UOE data collection
Treated by the Task Force as a first pilot;
The results of the Task Force pilot show that:
Estimations are widely used in the UOE particularly for aligning to ISCED levels, for calculating part-time, full-time and FTE figures and for making up for coverage problems;
Used for calculation of education expenditures;
Looking at estimations in the UOE data would also include reflections on how the estimations should be marked in published figures and documentation of estimation methods.

The Task Force recommends that the pilot exercise should be repeated for all countries on a slightly more detailed level.
Discussion points:
- Do the ETS WG agree on carrying out this exercise on a slightly more detailed level? (Is this a useful exercise?)
Suggestions for additional points/issues to be added?
How can we promote learning from each other?
Do we need more detailed guidelines / recommendations on good practices at international level?
Timing: results by the end of 2007? (Questionnaire to be sent out during spring 2007?)
