BAQAI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY The Baqais (Dr.Fareed Uddin Baqai and Dr.Zahida Baqai) both medical practitioners and surgeons by profession, after completing their medical education in Pakistan and Great Britain, started practicing the art of healing in an underdeveloped country and in a fast growing city of Karachi, the then capital of Pakistan. The enormity and complexity of health care problems and the paucity of proper infrastructures for health care delivery systems motivated them to develop a comprehensive concept of community development on the basis of self reliance and without depending upon the public sector financing. The concept started unfolding itself in concrete actions when the Baqai Foundation acquired a large piece of land on Super Highway just at the outskirts of Karachi and established the first ever rural Medical Centre supported by secondary and tertiary health care facilities in 1976.Programs offerredM.B.B.S & BDSTotal Seats: Rs 297,500*
ZIAUDDIN MEDICAL COLLEGE Ziauddin University has been created to promote the advancement of knowledge in health sciences through excellence in teaching, research, and public service. The purpose of the University is to serve individual students, other institutions of higher learning (primarily within Pakistan), government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and society at large. Student education and training is directed towards producing graduates who will contribute towards enhancing health education and the promotion of healthy lifestyles in populations from to all socio-economic stratum of Pakistan.Programs offerredM.B.B.S & BDSTotal Seats: Rs 255,000 *
National University of Science & Technology National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) was established by the Government of Pakistan in 1991 for the promotion of higher scientific education in the country, especially in the field of sciences and technology, by providing stable and disciplined academic environment together with a need based research opportunities pertinent to our industrial requirements. NUST is the first model university established by the Ministry of Science and Technology like KAIST of Korea. The university was granted the Charter in Besides covering a wide variety of engineering disciplines, the horizon of NUST covers (but does not limit to) information technology, medical, management sciences and basic sciences.

Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) The institute is situated on Lehtrar Road, in the vicinity of a small village, Nilore, which falls within the district limits of Islamabad. The campus of the institute is spread over an area of about 150 acres. It is a residential campus and all students stay in the hostels at the institute. It comprises of nine academic blocks, four workshops, plants for production of liquid nitrogen and oxygen, twenty seven laboratories, lecture halls, conference rooms, a 400-seat auditorium, four hostel blocks, cafeteria, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a rest-house, and houses for the faculty and staff of the institute.

Ghulam Ishaq Khan (late) Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences & Technology (GIKI)The Genesis of the Institute can be traced back to the early 50's when Mr. Ghulam Ishaq Khan(late) became acutely aware of Pakistan's dependence on foreign expertise and imported technology. Out of his frequent interaction with the foreign and local experts emerged the idea that a Education with Perfection in engineering sciences and production technology ought to be established in the country, a center whose standards of education are comparable to those of its counterparts in the advanced countries. The transformation of this idea into a practical proposition took place in December 1985 when the Benevolent Community Care and Infaq Foundation donated Rs. 50 million for setting up an institute in the N.W.F.P for promotion of science and technology.Mr.Ghulam Ishaq Khan (late)FounderEligibility Criteria for GIKIThe applicant must secure an overall score of at least 60% excluding NCC in Inter

University of Engineering & Technology (UET) The University of Engineering and Technology (main) located in the northern part of Lahore on the historical "Grand Trunk Road (G.T. Road)", near the magnificent Shalimar Gardens built during the great Mughal Empire. The institution started its career in 1921 as the ‘ Mughalpura Technical College ’. Later it became the ‘Maclagan Engineering College’, a name given to it in 1923 when Sir Edwards Maclagan, the then Governor of the Punjab who laid the foundation stone of the main building, now called the Main Block, which still retains its majesty despite the wear and tear of over eight decades. At that stage the institution offered courses of study in only two disciplines; Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

NED University of Engineering & Technology (NEDUET) The NED University of Engineering and technology is the oldest institution now in Pakistan for teaching and turning out Graduate Engineers; it is in the Public Sector – i.e. Government owned – having begun initially as an Engineering College in 1922 established by subscriptions from private donors. The University retains the initials in honour of the principal donor for that College – Nadirshaw Edulji Dinshaw in its name! Like other such Government owned institutions in developing countries, it has had over the years to overcome various handicaps ranging from shortage of funds to “brain drain” of Faculty Members as well as students. Nevertheless, because of its transparent admission policy which has established its reputation over the years, it attracts the best students – including even some foreigners lacking resources for seeking admission in Universities of developed countries!
