Theoretical Constructs Antonovsky-we should study the survivors of adversity rather than those who succumbed to disease. Health Inequalities and lifestyles Health impacts from environments both physical and social WHO 1986-Healthy Public Policy, Supportive Environments, Community Action, Health Promoting Personal Skills, Health Service Reorientation towards Health Promotion. Theory should include a wide range of disciplines and study the complexity on life situations. Tactics for Health Promotion should be based on a theory or a strategy
Theory Variability increases with age on a number of characteristics Old and poor, Status Maintenance, Retirement, Widowhood and adverse economic conditions, inequality generating circumstances, diversity and inequality both cultural and gender based, selection and socialization. Social Reproduction Theory-this runs counter to educational and equal opportunity and a merit based system of rewards. The theory examines sets of social stratification mechanisms which produce strong intergenerational and social class continuities. Social systems tend to perpetuate. Social Psychology, Feminism and organizational analysis disagreed with the principles of this theory.
Theory Life-course study integrated with the impact of education and work, led to examination of institutionalized systems where class and gender inequalities are systematically and relentlessly reproduced. Resource based health effects begin early in life and interact continuously with external circumstances. E.G. Social Class and childhood nutrition (Welfare Foods in UK)
