Strains AB1157 (Xer+ FtsK+), DS8029 (XerC−) and GR51 (XerC− FtsKc−) were transformed with either pLMN132 (HinXerC+) or pSDC107 (EcoXerC+), followed by the dif reporter plasmid pSDC124.
