3 Eligibility for funding Must have been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of the course No restrictions on stay in the UK EU Students (Non UK) are usually eligible for fees funding

4 Years 1 to 4 plus Preliminary Year if applicable

5 Tuition Fees 2013/14 Cardiff University currently charges £9,000 p.a. for all Undergraduate courses

6 Tuition fee loans are available to all eligible students Covers whole of the tuition fee Not income assessed Paid directly to the university Student repays after they have graduated Students will NOT have to pay Tuition Fees up-front

7 The Tuition Fee Grant Applicable to Welsh domiciled students Students pay the first £3,575 Fees over £3,575 (£5425) will be covered by the Welsh Government Can study anywhere in the UK Not means tested Not repayable

8 Funding for other costs E.g. food, accommodation, travel home, bills, leisure, books etc Grant and Maintenance Loan The Grant is income assessed 25% of the Maintenance Loan is income assessed

12 Cardiff University Additional Awards Cardiff University Bursary Top up support for living costs Income assessed (Income under £42,600) No separate application required Communities First Award Students from a Communities First Area in Wales Household income under £42,600 Either £1000 discount in residence fees or £500 travel grant Care Leaver Bursary £1000 in 1 st yr, £750 in subsequent yrs and £500 in final term Next Step Bursary £1000 in 1 st yr - household income under £42,600 and already part of the University Step Up Programme
