Camp Kindergarten News August 25-September 2 Mrs. Russell Otterville Elementary A Peek at the Week Sight Words Dates to Remember I can Reading: Animals in the Park Essential learning question: How is everyone Special? We will be working the correct way to handle a book, the parts of a book and Rhyme. Students will also be introduced to Syllables and will continue to use prediction skills while listening to stories Writing: Names/Letters Students will begin to work on writing their names and Letters. We will be working on the correct way to hold pencils and write on lined paper. Our High Frequency word this week is “I” our letter this week is Bb Math: Numbers 0-5 Students will start working with numbers 0-5 this week. We are learning to count, read and write the numbers 0-5. Science/Social Studies Students will start learning about plants and communities. August 25 – First Day of School September 2 – No School September 5 – No School September Otterville Street Fair Notes from the Teacher *Please do not forget to check your students purple folder every day. There are a lot of papers that get sent home as well as homework at least once or twice a week. Behavior calendars are sent home daily and will let you know how your child’s day went. If they have a purple day they went above and beyond to be prepared to learn. If they have a green day they were ready to learn all day. If they have a yellow day they received a warning that day and if they have a red day I will make parent contact. If your child has a yellow day they still had a good day they just needed some reminders of the rules. If your student has a yellow or red day there will be a note on the calendar explaining why. *If your student checks out a library book they are due the next time we have library. They may keep them at home until that time or they can bring them back to school and leave them in their desks. * I am looking forward to another great year at Otterville. We do not have school on Friday, September 2nd or Monday, September 5th. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to me. Learning Targets *Begin to recognize syllables. *Recognize letters Aa-Ff in both upper and lowercase letters. *Begin to recognize rhyme. *Begin to predict during stories and science. *Retell stories. *Recognize the words I/can. *Recognize numbers 0-5.
