2 Self-Esteem and You Self-Esteem is a measure of how much you value, respect, and feel confident about yourself. (How much you like yourself) People with high self-esteem feel good about themselves. People who have low self-esteem do not feel good about themselves. Having a Healthy Self-Esteem is very important. People who have healthy self-esteem are between high and low levels of self-esteem.

3 High Self-Esteem People who have high self-esteem share many characteristics. They feel good about themselves. They know their strengths and weakness. They accept who they are. They like their physical appearance. They do not let negative comments affect them too much. They are more likely to choose healthy behaviors. Most importantly they like themselves.

4 Low Self-Esteem People with low self-esteem also share certain traits.
They do not feel good about themselves. They may be very affected by what others say. Low confidence. Unhappy with physical appearance. Often they do not make healthy choices.

How can the media affect your self-esteem? TV, magazines, movies, music videos, and social media. The media tends to show only people who are successful and unusually attractive. When we compare ourselves to these people it can make us uncomfortable with our body image . Body Image is the way you see and imagine your body.

7 Self Concept Self-esteem is how you feel about your self.
Self concept is the way you imagine and see yourself as a person. Your academic self-concept is how you see yourself as a student. Your physical concept is how you see your physical abilities. Your social concept is how you see yourself in relationships.

Having confidence in yourself.

Get to know yourself. What do you like? What are your weaknesses? Accept yourself. Accepting yourself means that you do not want to change your personality. Be good at something. Do you have any hobbies? Set a goal. Start small and work your way to bigger goals. Be positive. Positive thoughts build confidence and a healthy self-esteem.

Turn problems into challenges. Looking at problems as challenges will help you deal with disappointments in a positive way. Do something for others. Volunteering allows you to share your strengths with other people.
