2 3 Gospel Commitments Gospel Truth - We are committed to the truth of scripture, and believe its central message is the Gospel; the message of God’s gracious work to redeem sinners. Gospel Community - We are committed to knowing, loving and serving one another as brothers and sisters united in Christ. Gospel Mission - Individually and corporately, we are committed to declaring and demonstrating the Gospel to our communities, our cities and the nations.

3 Declaring and Demonstrating the Gospel:
1 Thessalonians 1:2-5: “2 We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, 3 remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

4 Declaring and Demonstrating the Gospel:
1 Thessalonians 1:2-5: “4 For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.”

5 Declaring the Gospel: Biblical Foundations – Romans 10:13-14: “13 For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”

6 Declaring the Gospel: We are all called to declare – 1 Peter 3:14-15: “14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you….”

7 Declaring the Gospel: Declaring the gospel is powerful

8 Demonstrating the Gospel:
Biblical Foundations – 1 Thessalonians 1:5b: “You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.”

9 Demonstrating the Gospel:
1 Thessalonians 2:7-9: “7 But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. 8 So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us. 9 For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.”

10 Demonstrating the Gospel:
The Sermon on the Mount: A missional goal Matthew 5:14-16: “14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

11 Demonstrating the Gospel:
The Sermon on the Mount: Missional means Matthew 5:43-45: “43 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.”

12 Demonstrating the Gospel:
The Sermon on the Mount: Missional means Matthew 6:14-15: “14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

13 Demonstrating the Gospel:
Demonstrating the Gospel within the Church: Biblical Foundations - John 13:35: “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

14 Demonstrating the Gospel:
Demonstrating the Gospel outside the Church: Biblical Foundations – 1 Thessalonians 1 & 2:
